Kargil, January 18: A property card distribution programme was organized today at Tehsil Office Drass under the SVAMITVA (Survey of villages and mapping with improvised technology in village areas) scheme, an initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

The programme was attended by Councillor Bhimbat, Adbul Wahid, Tehsildar Drass, Vishal Atri, Ghulam Rasool, NT Drass, Shahid Sultan, BDO Drass and locals including numberdars and property card holders of Tehsil Drass.

At the outset, Tehsildar Drass briefed people about benefits of the SVAMITVA scheme. He also appreciated the support of local Councillors and villagers who provided all support to revenue staff for successful completion of this scheme.

Councillor, Abdul Wahid commended the efforts of the Revenue Department and briefed the public on the benefits of the scheme. He also urged locals to support the digitization of land records.

A similar function of property card distribution was held at village Chowkiyal of Tehsil Drass in which Girdawar Qanungo, Mehraj Ud Din and Patwari Bashir Ahmed briefed people about the benefit of the SVAMITVA scheme and distributed property cards among them.

Despite continuous snowfall in Drass, a large number of locals actively participated in both events. Subsequently, they attentively listened to the live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India about benefits of the SVAMITVA scheme.
