Bhaderwah, January 3: Prof. Rahul Gupta from the Department of Statistics, University of Jammu has formally assumed the charge of Rector Bhaderwah Campus, succeeding Prof. J.P. Singh Joorel, who served the campus with dedication and visionary leadership for the past year.

Prof. Joorel’s tenure was marked by notable initiatives that significantly contributed to the academic and infrastructural development of Bhaderwah Campus. His efforts strengthened the campus’s position as a center of higher education in the region, creating pathways for academic excellence and research advancements.

Prof. Rahul Gupta brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to his new role. He has previously served as Registrar, University of Jammu, and led the Department of Statistics as its Head for over five years. Additionally, Prof. Gupta has held key positions, including Dean of Faculty, Chief Librarian and Director of the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC), University of Jammu.

During his tenure as Director of UGC-HRDC, Prof. Gupta introduced innovative training modules aimed at enhancing the professional skills of faculty members and administrative staff. His leadership as Chief Librarian saw the modernization of library systems, including the introduction of digital repositories and state-of-the-art infrastructure for research scholars.

In the Department of Statistics, Prof. Gupta’s tenure as Head was distinguished by a focus on quality research and curriculum enrichment. Under his leadership, the department launched new academic programs and research collaborations, fostering a vibrant academic environment.

As the Rector of Bhaderwah Campus, Prof. Gupta envisions taking forward the legacy of his predecessors by focusing on academic innovation, interdisciplinary research and community engagement. His extensive administrative experience and academic acumen are expected to usher in a new era of growth and excellence at the campus.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier also Prof Rahul Gupta served as Rector for more than three years, during which he made remarkable contributions to the academic, administrative and infrastructural development of the campus. His leadership during that period was instrumental in enhancing the academic offerings and fostering a culture of research and innovation.

Soon after assuming the charge, Prof. Rahul Gupta held a series of meetings with teaching and non-teaching staff. During these interactions, he emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to ensure the betterment and holistic development of Bhaderwah Campus. Prof. Gupta urged the staff to focus on academic innovation, infrastructure development and community engagement to further strengthen the campus’s reputation as a hub of excellence in higher education

The teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and students of Bhaderwah Campus extended a warm welcome to Prof. Rahul Gupta, expressing confidence in his leadership to steer the institution towards greater achievements.
