Kargil, Jan 03: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar accompanied by Tehsildar Zanskar today conducted a surprise inspection of various offices in the Sub-Division to enhance efficiency and accountability in government offices.

The visit was aimed at evaluating staff attendance and ensuring the effective delivery of public services to the residents of Zanskar.

During the visit, the SDM and Tehsildar also inspected CHC Padum. They reviewed the availability of essential medicines, medical supplies and patient care facilities. The inspection team ensured medical and paramedical staff were present and fulfilling their responsibilities.

It was observed during the inspection that absenteeism in certain offices was hampering the efficiency of services. Taking a stern view of this, the SDM directed the concerned Heads of Departments (HODs) to issue show-cause notices to all absentees and submit detailed reports.

The SDM instructed all HODs to report to his office tomorrow, accompanied by the staff present in the headquarters. This directive came in light of several employees being absent from their offices, citing snowfall as the reason.

The SDM further ordered that the salaries of all absent employees without obtaining station-leaving permission should not be disbursed until they submit satisfactory replies to the show-cause notices issued to them.

The SDM emphasized the critical role of government officials in upholding public trust by maintaining regular attendance and ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of offices. He urged all staff members to perform their duties diligently to meet the people’s expectations of Zanskar.

The SDM reiterated that such inspections would continue regularly to strengthen regional public service delivery.
