Private entrepreneurship vital for tourism promotion

Srinagar: Describing tourism as pivotal for facilitating tourists, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzing Jpora said the sector wood increase employment to local youth.
Speaking after inaugurating a modern Kashmiri esthetic look 3-storey hotel complex Kulan-Kangan, in central Kashmir district of Gandegbal Mr Jora said such initiatives taken by private entrepreneurs would also ease tourist rush in government hotels.
Underlining the significance of entrepreneurship, Mr Jora said that this sector promises greater future to state’s youth.
“Government alone cannot provide jobs to huge number of Unemployed person. We have to find out ways and means to generate wide ranging economic activities in the state and tourism sector is the major one with lots of promises for the young generation, and welcomes the local entrepreneurs in the field assuring full government’s assistance.” he said.
The Minister said though the governments have achieved lot in upgradation of infrastructure under the field but private participation is pre-requisite for its full development.
He hoped this year peace loving situation in the valley expected that Kashmiri’s would witness big boom of tourists.
On the occasion, the Forest and Environment Minister, Mian Altaf Ahmed said this area has a great potential of tourism activities and government has taken various steps to promote these so that a large chunk of tourists attracted to the visit of scenic and adventure spots.
He said his ministry would raise plantation on the banks of Sindh River from Wayal Bridge to Sonamarg for its beautification during next plantation.
The Ministers also visited and inspected various tourism ongoing works which includes development of Eco Park at Kangan, construction of Rs 3.22 crore club building and TRC at Sonamrg and issued on the spot instructions for some additions and alterations in the projects for their timely completion.
