Political parties protest petrol price hike in Jammu

Jammu: Several political parties today held demonstrations to protest against petrol price hike in this winter capital of the state.
Activists of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party led by General Secretary Anita Thakur took out a protest march amid slogans and held a demonstration at Ambphalla Chowk over price hike in petrol products. The activists raised slogans against the UPA government and termed it as “mehangai ki sarka”.
In another protest of Jammu West Assembly led by Sunil Dimple, the protestors blamed the Centre over rising inflation.
Mr Dimple said, “the UPA government has completely failed in giving relief to the common masses from the rising price of essentials, besides petrol, diesel and LPG.” Shiv Sena activists also protested against the Centre for being an utter failure.
Carrying placards and banners, the protestors said the Government has slashed prices only for gaining votes but once the elections were over, the inflation touched the sky.
In the steepest hike ever, state-owned oil companies increased petrol price by about Rs 5 per litre, midnight last night.
