Earthquake measuring 6.0 on Richter scale rock Kashmir

Srinagar: A moderate earthquake measuring 6.0 on Richter scale rocked Kashmir valley, including summer capital Srinagar early this morning.
This was the second quake in the Valley in less than 24 hours.
Head of the Disaster Management in Kashmir, Aamir Ali told that tremors were felt at 0237 hrs early this morning, forcing people to rush out of their houses in panic.
He said, “its epicentre was again in Hindukush mountains in Afghanistan and its coordinates were 36.5 degrees north and 70.7 degrees east.” He said there was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property.
A moderate intensity quake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, had struck Kashmir yesterday at 0310 hrs.
Jammu and Kashmir, located in a highly seismic zone witnessed more than half a dozen earthquakes during the last two months.
About one lakh people, mostly in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir(PoK) were killed in a massive quake, measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, that rocked both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) in October 2005.
