Budgam, May 11(KMW): A cop was killed after militants attacked a minority picket guarded by Jammu Kashmir police in Wadwun Soibugh area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Reports said that militants fired upon cops guarding the house of a Kashmiri Pandit Avtar Krishan Koul. A cop suffered bullet injury and was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
A police official said that area was cordoned off and searches were conducted. He said that no arrests were made during the operation.
The slain cop has been identified as Head Constable Shamim Ahmed, a resident of Yaripora Kulgam.
It was the second attack on a minority picket in the district. Earlier this month, armed militants attacked a minority picket at Goriwan Hyderpora and snatched four assault rifles from the policemen guarding the picket.
