UDHAMPUR: To promote amicable relationship between police and the public and to keep the youth of Udhampur away from social evils besides keeping them mentally and physically sound, Udhampur Police organized a T20 Cricket tournament at Chopra shop (Rehmbal) in Uhdampur district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Beig today inaugurated the T-20 Cricket tournament.
The SSP said that sports activities in the area are participating day by day there by inculcating positive mindset among the young generations. He said that the such type of tournaments would defiantly help the young generations to keep them mentally and physically fit. He also thanked the general public especially youth for participating and making the event successful. He stressed upon the police as well as general public to develop cordial relations to bridge the gap between police and public.
Giving details, Additional SP Udhampur, Mr. Rajinder Gupta said to channelize the energies of local youth having wayward tendencies, in constructive purposes rather than their inclination towards anti-social activities, a T-20 Cricket tournament was organized by Udhampur Police under the Civic Action program of Jammu and Kashmir Police. He also disclosed that the final of the tournament would be played on November 06, 2011.
As many as, 8 local teams of the areas participated in the tournament and inaugural match was played between the team of Junior Cricket Club Chopra shop and Senior cricket Club, Chopra shop.
