JAMMU, FEBRUARY 12(KMW): A meeting of District Level Review Committee cum District Consultative Committee of the district was convened by the Lead Bank office, State Bank of India at PWD Guest House under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu today.
The meeting reviewed performance of banks with regard to achievement under Annual Credit Plan of 2014-15 and the position of Deposits, Advances and CD Ratio for the quarter ending December 2014.
At the outset, Lead District Manager, State Bank of India Jawahar Koul informed the house that deposits of the district were Rs.23579.46 crores and Advances was Rs.7394.84 crores, as on 31.12.2014. The C.D. Ratio of the district was 31.36%.
Under ACP-2014-15, the achievement of banks was 39.45% against the annual target of Rs.5650.07 crores, the achievement was Rs.2229.19 crores. The Chairman expressed his unhappiness about the performance of the banks and instructed all the Banks to redouble their efforts in the last Quarter of FY 2014-15 so that annual targets are achieved by 31.03.2015
Koul informed the house that 229 Financial Literacy Camps were organized by the rural branches of banks in the district up to December 2014. The chairman stressed on the fact that FLC camps should be held on a regular basis so that the bank coverage achieved under Pradhan Mantri’s Jan Dhan Yojana scheme is further strengthened.
The Chairman emphasized that awareness Camps regarding banking facilities for Education loans should be conducted regularly. He also suggested that Lead Bank should draw a calendar for organizing product specific camps like housing loan melas, education fairs, MSME seminars etc. so that awareness about such facilities is disseminated to specific target groups.
The meeting had a detailed review of all the government sponsored schemes with special focus on KCCs and PMEGP Schemes. The LDM also advised the sponsoring agencies to conduct awareness camps in the panchayats in coordination with banks, so that more and more people are educated, motivated and facilitated to initiate self employment. The Chairman also directed the banks to dispose of all the pending Government Sponsored cases, latest by 28th February 2015.
The Chairman stressed on giving targets to various functionaries of Agriculture Department for monitoring of sponsorship of KCC applications so that 100% coverage of all eligible farmers can be achieved.
A detailed review was also taken of the progress achieved under Modified Direct Benefit transfer of LPG subsidy (PAHAL). The chairman instructed all the banks to extend fullest cooperation to all the gas consumers in seeding of Aadhar cards. He also instructed the representatives of Oil marketing companies to organize camps for spreading awareness regarding PAHAL so that 100% coverage is achieved by 28th February 2015.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director (Planning and Statistics) Shasi Bala, Assistant Commissioner (Development) Suram Sharma, Chief Planning Officer G.L. Sharma, AGM RBI Ravinder Koul, State Project Manager, JKSRLM (Umeed) Madan Gupta and representatives from banks and government Departments.
Later, the DDC also chaired Local Advisory Committee meeting for the quarter ending December 2014 to review the Annual Action Plan and progress of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) for the quarter ending December 2014. He also reviewed the status of sponsoring of BPL Unemployed Candidates, Reimbursement of claims lodged with DRDA, sponsoring of PMEGP candidates from KVIC for EDP Training, sponsoring of candidates under BADP to RSETI, allotment of land to RSETI etc.
Director State Bank of India, Rural Self Employment Training Institute, Virender Kumar Sood apprised the chair that 12 training programmes, 20 awareness camps were organized by RSETI and 254 candidates were trained besides 1010 candidates trained by RSETI since inception 725 candidates have been settled either by wage or self employment which is about 71 percent and also attended DLRC and 6 BLBC meetings in different blocks during the quarter.
The DDC asked the concerned authorities to make strenuous efforts to achieve the set targets so that the benefit should reach to the deserving lot.
