Srinagar, Nov 28 (KMW): The frontline leaders of Peoples League on Thursday alleged Hurriyat Conference (M) of patronizing one of its executive leaders, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, who according to them “embezzled crores of rupees” from the party funds.
Addressing a press conference here, the PL’s central council members alleged Waza of non compliance of the party orders by virtue of which he was recalled from the Hurriyat (M).
“Waza not only defied the PL orders but is also responsible for irregularities and embezzlement worth crores of rupees which was meant for the party activities,” Ghulam Nabi Waseem, the PL’s senior leader said.
He added that in this regard, the PL had many a times informed the Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Prof Abdul Gani Bhat but to no avail. “Unfortunately the Hurriyat (M) is patronizing Waza for some unknown reasons.
The other leaders of the PL said that Waza was selected as the vice chairman of the party after Sheikh Abdul Aziz PL Chairman was killed in Uri in 2008.
“Neither he (Waza) conducted party elections nor took the senior party leaders on board. Instead he remained enjoying the patronage of Hurriyat (M) executive leaders and embezzled party funds worth crores of rupees,” Waseem, one of the party’s central council members told.
