Peace imperative for development: Sagar

HANDWARA: Terming peace as an important parameter for sustained development, the Minister for Rural Development, Panchyati Raj, Law & Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar asked the people to come forward and support the government in carrying out its developmental agenda.
The Minister was addressing a mammoth gathering after laying the foundation stone of model village coming within an estimated cost of Rs. 3.5 crore at Yamlar Rajwara Handwara, MLA Handwara, Choudahary Mohammad Ramzan, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Rather, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mr. Jahangir Mir, senior officers of Rural Development Department and Panchs and Sarpanchs of the area were present on the occasion.
Referring to the recently held Panchayat elections, the Minister said that our government believes in sustained action and fulfilling the promises made to the people. “We do not believe in rhetoric and selling false ideas but in delivering on the ground and the people by participating in large numbers have reiterated their faith in democratic process and good governance”, he maintained.
Directing the officers present on the occasion to involve the recently elected Panchayat Raj representatives in policy implementation and formulation, the Minister said that we have empowered them with the powers of 14 vital departments and every care should be taken to implement the order issued in this regard. Necessary action would be initiated against the officials violating the same, he warned.
The Minister said that an amount of Rs. 11.05 crore has been earmarked under MGNERGA for the current fiscal and 4251 mandays have been generated, besides, 300 works undertaken.
MLA Hamdwara, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, speaking on the occasion, enumerated various developmental works undertaken by the government for welfare of the people.
