Kashmir, India – March 8:, ‘Peace Campaign for Women’, co-hosted by International Women’s Peace Group (“IWPG”) and Kashmir Women Organization ‘SUPPORT TRUST’ took place at Government Women’s College Nawakadal Srinagar.
‘SUPPORT TRUST’ and 250 students in Government Women’s College Nawakadal Srinagar were attended in the campaign that the president and professors of Kashmir colleges, victims of conflicts, peace and social activists delivered an impressive speech on ‘Why we need peace in this era’. The college students were inspired by the message of peace and marched along the street. They took up the banners of peace words and waved flags. At 3:08pm, ‘Peace Campaign for Women’ took place at the same time worldwide through IWPG Network. Participants marched and shouted “SHE CAN! WORLD PEACE!”. The main idea of the campaign is to have common aspiration of peace in the disputed areas and they have longed for the peace in Kurdish regions where the armed conflicts are unceasing between Iran, Iraq and Turkey.
Ms. Lubna Khan, a member of IWPG and staff of SUPPORT TRUST, said she had a chance to hear the speech of HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee and IWPG Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim during their 2015 peace tour in India. She was deeply moved to participate in the peace movement. She witnessed the horrible sacrifice of many youths by the Kashmir conflict and with mother’s heart, she agreed to protect their children by implementing international convention on cessation of war. She spoke, “I will support and participate in HWPL’s peace movement by organizing a committee in Kashmir to urge for enactment of international convention on cessation of war”. She delivered a message of gratitude to Mr. Lee and Ms. Kim because the role of HWPL and IWPG are essential to strive through the difficulties in Kashmir.
IWPG is an international women’s organization and cooperates with HWPL, registered under the UN Department of Public Information (DPI). Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim made the 24th world tour with chairman Man Hee Lee and encouraged heads of states to join the peace work. Also, this organization becomes the good example among the women’s groups by setting up the world network to carry out peace forum, cultural and educational event, and volunteer work. When everyone works together for peace, regardless of how great or small, we can bring about change within ourselves, and even bring forth the power to save lives. Also, on March 2016, the HWPL International Law Peace Committee and IWPG will publicly present the Declaration on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Over 200 internationally-renowned figures representing various fields: legal affairs, politics, NGOs, and media will gather at the Proclamation Ceremony in Seoul to witness and support the Declaration that will build a new framework for an international law leading to global peace.
