Islamabad, Feb 28 (KMW): In a bid to condemn the much awaited government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, led by the historical alliance between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartia Janata Party (BJP), the Pakistan authorities for the second time in the history has called for complete shutdown in Indian occupied Kashmir on 1st March 2015. The strike call came at a time when the foreign secretary talks between India & Pakistan are much closer to its proposed time.
Calling for the strike in Kashmir, Pakistan’s foreign affairs spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said the PDP have strengthen the Kashmir’s accession with India by forming the state government with the Hindu Right wing party BJP.
The spokesperson maintained that Hurriyat leaders with the reasons known to them only have failed to respond and rebut to so-called Govt formation which is anti-Kashmir and anti-movement.
Pertinent to mention here, In 1975 when Indira-Sheikh Abdullah accord was signed paving way to Sheikh’s return to power, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on 28 February 1975, called for complete shutdown in Kashmir to condemn the accord. Bhutto’s call evokes 100% response.
Reacting to the strike call by Pakistan, foreign minister of India Sushma Swaraj said the strike call amply proves that Pakistan is poking nose in our internal issues.
“The Pakistan, perhaps don’t want to engage herself in dialogue process, recently at the eleventh hour its ambassador to India hold ‘unnecessarily’ meeting with Kashmiri separatist leaders, now again when we have taken the initiative for talks with Pakistan, it is again distancing herself from the talks by calling this strike.”
Meanwhile despite repeated attempts, designated Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed couldn’t be contacted.
