About 1200 vehicles plying towards Jammu to Srinagar including trucks, cars and passenger taxis were stranded on the highway at different destinations while thousands of Valley-based passengers also got stuck at General Bus Stand here, the spokesman informed.

“Directions have been issued by the authorities in the wake of inclement weather and poor conditions that no vehicle will be allowed to move on the highway unless the road is cleared of snow to avoid any untoward incident,” he added.

“The BRO men are on job and traffic will resume only after clearance of snow,” he said.

The government has made appropriate arrangement of food and lodging for the stranded passengers but the passengers also demonstrated yesterday, demanding airlifting services to reach their destinations. (KMW News)
