Srinagar: Ahead of Panchayat polls beginning April 13, unknown persons set ablaze a Panchayat ghar in Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Tuesday.Official sources told during the wee hours, some ‘miscreant’ set on fire the Panchayat Ghar at Galoora Handwara in the frontier district.Superintendent of Police, Handwara, Mohammad Aslam confirmed the incident and said that police has registered a case and started investigation.“We have registered a case and launched investigations to ascertain the reasons behind the incident,” he said.The pachayat ghar has suffered partial damage, the officer added.    The incident comes little over a week ahead of the first phase of the Panchayat polls in the state. The first of the sixteen phased Panchayat poll in the state begins April 13. Eight blocks including Bishnah, Samba, Kangan, Budgam, Quimouh, Kupawara and Udhampur will vote in the first phase.
