Omar to be CM for full term: Taj

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government is intending to buy back Uri and Salal hydel projects in the State from National Hydro Power Corporation NHPC.
This was disclosed by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din during an interaction with media persons here today. He said the State is ready to pay the compensation for these projects which are valued currently at Rs. Twenty one hundred crore for Uri and Rs. 468 crore for Salal. He said the generation capacity of these two projects stands at Eleven hundred and seventy megawatts which is quite gracious to meet the energy needs of the State.
The Minister said after the enactment of Water Resources Act in the State, NHPC has deposited around Rs. 500 crore with the State Government and the same is in a separate account maintained by the Commissioner-Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department of the J&KGovernment.
Mr. Taj said, additionally, NHPC owes the State Rs. Seven Hundred Crore wrongly credited to them during last ten years. He said the Centre also has told the corporation to hand over Salal project to the State.
Relying to question about rotational Chief Minister, the Minister said Mr. Omar Abdullah would continue to be the Chief Minister of the State for the full term of six years.
The Minister said many steps were taken to augment and stabilize water resources in the State. He said the age old grandeur of famous lake Wullar would restored to its repute and expanse a century ago for which many plans are being executed.
