Omar gets brief about e-governance application in H&UD

JAMMU: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Friday received PowerPoint presentation about the application of e-governance in Housing and Urban Development Department at a meeting here.
The initiative is in pursuance of the directions of the Chief Minister to ensure hassle-free public service delivery, e-tendering and e-purchasing in various departments. It will also smoothen the implementation of Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) aimed at providing identified services to the people within the specified time frame.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla, Minister of State for Housing, Nasir Aslam Wani, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Suresh Kumar and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development presented resume of the measures taken to bring in e-governance in the functioning of Housing and Urban Development Department. He said web portal has been designed to provide online service to the consumers regarding birth and death certificates, building permission and other similar services.
Suresh Kumar also presented the status of urban reforms and gave details of the fund position under JNNURM.
The Chief Minister asked the department to involve CIC and Khidmat Centres in the online service providing mechanism and incorporate all information about the identified services in Housing and Urban Development Department for timeline delivery to the consumers under the PSGA, on the web portal of the department.
