Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today determined to maintain a constant public rapport to ascertain their difficulties and take appropriate action for their redressal.
Talking to various delegations from all across the state during Awami Mulakat, Mr Abdullah said a well planned and integrated development policy has already been set in motion since last two-and-half years to give a new dimension to development and seek political stability and peaceful environment for achieving the goal of “a model Jammu and Kashmir”.
He said five important sectors — road communication, health, education, power and water supply — have been flagged as priority concerns of the state government and appropriate measures for tackling the unemployment crisis were receiving with focused attention.
“Steps are on to absorb educated youth in the government service endeavors and encourage small-medium enterprise sector as well as enhance the employability of educated youth,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the next four years of his government would witness a substantial change on the development and economic fronts.
Mr Abdullah said involvement of grassroots public representation in economic activities and policy framing was crucial to achieve the targeted goals successfully.
He said the establishment of Panchayati Raj in the state would be an appropriate means to shift decision-making practice from the Secretariat and provincial levels to the grassroots so that a large number of public issues were settled at Panchayat levels.
As many as 70 deputations and more than 2,000 individuals yesterday met the Chief Minister during the Awami Mulakat and presented him memoranda of demands, relating to the community development and individual nature.
However, he appealed to the youth not to come for personal jobs or employment during these meetings as the Awami Mulakat has been started to ascertain difficulties of the people and take appropriate action for their redressal.
“I have time and again made it clear to people not to come for jobs to me as I cannot help you,” he added.
