Omar chairs SKIMS governing body meet

SRINAGAR: Chairing the governing body meeting of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences here on Friday, Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah approved Rs. 1 lakh for each patient who undergoes kidney or Stem Cell transplant at SKIMS for meeting the expenditure on account of follow up treatment.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for enhancing the scope and facilities of this tertiary care hospital for providing super-specialty healthcare to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister said that government would extent full support for the upgradation of equipments, infrastructure and faculty of the institute.
Mr. Omar also received detail brief about the follow up action taken on the decision of last Governing Body meeting.
The meeting discussed matters relating to purchase of PET CT Scan, framing of policy for procurement of closed system equipments, creation of pain and palliapive care in Cancer Centre, creation of regional Geriatic centre, construction of multi-storied parking, creation of endowment fund and other issues relating to the development of SKIMS.
The Director SKIMS, Dr. Showkat Ali Zargar in a power point presentation presented resume of the new initiatives and achievements registered by SKIMS during recently.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Finance, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Medical Education, Mr. R. S. Chib, Minister of State for Health, Mr. Javaid Ahmed Dar, Chief Secretary, Mr. Madhav Lal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. B. B.Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Finance, Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey and other members of the governing body.
