Omar chairs high level security meeting

JAMMU: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who is stationed here to monitor the situation after the twin terrorist attacks on police and military establishments at Hira Nagar and Samba in Jammu Division on Thursday, reviewed the functioning of security grid at a high level meeting he chaired on Friday morning.
Top brass of Army, Security Forces, J&K Police and Civil Administration was present in the meeting in which the Chief Minister was apprised of the details of operations conducted to combat the terrorist attacks in which police personnel and army jawans including a Lt. Colonel received martyrdom.
Omar Abdullah was also briefed about the functioning of security grid in the State as also the coordination between various security agencies to anticipate and combat terrorist attacks.
While expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Civil and personnel of Police and Army forces in the twin terrorist attacks, the Chief Minister stressed the need for further strengthening the surveillance and security measures to avoid such acts in future.
Among others the meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen. Sanjiv Chachra, Principal Secretary Home, Suresh Kumar, Director General Police, Ashok Prasad, GOC 16 Crops, GOC 9 Crops, GOC 29 Division, GOC 26 Infantry Division, MGGS Northern Command, Special Director, CRPF, Inspector General BSF, Inspector General CRPF, Commissioner SBJ, Deputy Director SIBJ, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP CID and IGP Jammu.
Earlier, the Chief Minister remained present at the Jammu Airport at the time of sending off the dead body of soldier Inder Singh to his native place. He paid rich tributes to the martyrs for their sacrifices for safeguarding the State and the Country.
