Immediately after landing here from Jammu, the Chief Minister visited Boniyar, where one Altaf Ahmad Sood was killed and two others were injured after CISF personnel opened fire on demonstrators, protesting against acute power shortage, near the NHPC main gate yesterday.

He met the family members of the deceased youth.

Mr Abdullah told the gathering that “it was a murder of a 12th class student by the CISF personnel”.

He said the state has also taken up the matter with the Union Home Ministry and lodged a strong protest against the firing incident.

He said a case of murder has already been registered in a police station and five personnel involved in the firing on demonstrators have been arrested.

“I will personally make sure that justice is done to Altaf,” the Chief Minister said adding the government will take the case to court and follow it till the guilty was punished as per law of the land.

About the allegation of acute power crisis in the area, where two main power houses of the state are generating energy, Mr Abdullah said he will make sure that one per cent of power in these projects was supplied to residents of nearby villages. (KMW News)
