Srinagar December 31: The Balidan Stambh in Srinagar, inaugurated by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on the 78th Independence Day, is a tribute to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the nation. However, the monument’s iconic value is being disrespected by some individuals who engage in romantic or personal photography and reel-making at the site.
Experts urge the administration to take action against such behaviour, emphasizing that martyrs are the nation’s treasure.
To preserve the sanctity of the monument, the administration should take steps to maintain a respectful atmosphere. This includes prohibiting non-sensitive photography and reel-making, ensuring visitors uphold a demeanor that aligns with the monument’s dignity. By preventing activities that may compromise the site’s reverence, the administration can safeguard the experience for all visitors.
In order to enforce these measures effectively, increased surveillance at the site is essential. Taking swift action against offenders will not only deter misconduct but also reinforce the importance of respecting the monument and its cultural significance.
By taking these measures, the administration can safeguard the Balidan Stambh’s iconic value and ensure that it remains a revered tribute to the martyrs.
Pertinently, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, during his visit to Srinagar, laid the foundation stone of ‘Balidan Stambh’ in June 2023.
