Jammu: In the backdrop of recent statement issued by a US thinktank predicting limited conflict between India and China, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said there are differences between both the countries.
”It does not matter what US speaks. Both India and China have to see what kind of relations they have to maintain,” Mr Abdullah told reporters during his visit to historical Mubarak Mandi complex.
The Chief Minister said both the countries do not want war adding that, ”We want our relations to be good with our neighbour and of course we have good ties with China.” ”Sometimes, differences appears with the neighbours but it cannot be assumed that the relations are not better,” Mr Abdullah said.
On recent observation of the Supreme Court on Pathribal case in context with the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that rape and murder committed by Army personnel should be considered a ‘normal crime’ and there is ‘no question of sanction’, the Chief Minister welcomed it and said, ”no force is allowed to commit rape or murder or any other normal crime while being on duty,” he said.
He, however, said, ”AFPSA is for legitimate protection and not to protect acts of crime.” On development funds, the Chief Minister said the historical Mubarak Mandi complex is to be preserved adding, ”The Centre has approved to undertake more works under 13th Finance Commission for Jammu and Kashmir and the Mubarak Mandi complex will surely be benefitted.” (KMW News)
