Islamabad: Underscoring the need to engage Kashmiris in dialogue process, Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that her country was willing to settle the K-Issue peacefully through negotiations.
“Kashmir is the core issue for Pakistan and there is no way to compromise on our stand”, Rabbani is said to have told the visiting Hurriyat delegation led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq who met her on Wednesday evening on dinner at Foreign Office here.
During the more than one and a half hour meeting, the Hurriyat delegation discussed the prevailing situation with the Pak FM, and stressed upon her that both the countries should take Kashmiris on board while negotiating on the Issue. “We are not only the part of the dispute but also the sufferers, so without the intervention of Kashmiris, no solution should be expected to come out”, the delegation, according to sources, told Rabani. Pakistan Foreign Secretary was also present during the meeting.
Meanwhile the delegation flew to Karachi on Tuesday morning, where they offered Fateh at Mazar e Qaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The delegation received a warm welcome at Karachi airport.
They later drove to MQM headquarters, where they had a meeting with the MQM leaders. Hurriyat sources told that during the meeting, they had a long telephonic conversation with the exiled MQM leader Altaf Hussain from London, who assured of all possible help for the resolution process. “Hussain said that if Kashmiris want independence, there shouldn’t be any problem for Pakistan”, a Hurriyat leader who was present in the meeting told. Altaf Husain has also said that there won’t come any solution to the problem unless Kashmiris were made part of the process.
Meanwhile the delegation was to meet President Zardari on Thursday evening at Karachi wherefrom they will be flying back to Islamabad.
