National Lok Adalat Held in Kargil, 134 Cases Settled Amicably

Kargil, March 14, 2026: As per the direction of Ladakh Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority Kargil organized 1st National Lok Adalat today at District Court Complex, Kargil. 

The Pre Lok Adalat Sessions were commenced from 9th of March to 13th of March, 2026 in which six benches were constituted to resolve the different kinds of cases through amicable settlement and compromise, pending in all courts of district Kargil, like Criminal Compoundable Matters, Civil disputes, Cheque bounce Cases under NI Act, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT, Labour cases, Matrimonial Issues, Compoundable Electricity and Water Bills, Land Acquisition cases, Revenue cases, Municipal Cases, BSNL Bills, Traffic matters, Pre Litigation cases etc, at District  Headquarter Kargil.

The first bench was presided over by Mr. Sheikh Gowher Hussain Chairman DLSA/PDSJ Kargil, the second bench was presided over by Mr. Tsewang Phuntsog Ld. CJM Kargil, and the third bench was presided over by Mr. Chemit Yurgyal Ld. Secretary DLSA Kargil.

Similarly fourth, fifth and sixth bench of National Lok Adalat were also held at the Tehsils level at Sankoo, Drass & Zanskar and bench was presided over by Ld. Chairman TLSC Sankoo, Drass & Zanskar Mr. Sadiq Ali Wazir. 

A total number 142 cases were referred to the National Lok Adalat out of the same total number of 134 cases were disposed off and out of the same an amount of Rs. 525000/- was recovered as settlement amount and Rs. 33900/- was realized as fine.
