SRINAGAR: Minister of State for R&B, Mr. Javed Ahmad Dar accompanied by the Minister of State for Home, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani visited Old Chanpora, Natipora and Rawalpora to take stock of the interior roads of the area..
Superintending Engineer, R&B, Mr. Abdul Hameed besides other senior engineers of the department accompanied them.
A large number of people met the ministers and apprised them about their problems and demands, which included up-gradation and macadamization of interior roads, improvement of parks besides construction of drains.
While talking to the people, the Ministers said that Government has formulated a massive development plan to improve the basic facilities of the people. They assured them that all genuine demands of the area would be looked into and fulfilled in a phased manner.
Mr Javed , on the spot, ordered for early up-gradation of interior roads besides macadamization of the remaining roads left during macadamization program of this season. He directed concerned engineer to start work immediately so that the left over areas are covered during ensuing season.
The ministers also inspected 1 km Humhama-Rawalpora road on which a new road technology RBI-81 is being adopted under a pilot project first time in the Valley on trial and experimental basis.
Giving details of the technology, Mr Hamid said that RBI-81 technology is not only stabilizing soil but also increasing its CBR value. He said the technology is eco-friendly, reducing use of bituminous, ensuring stability of roads and 20 percent cheaper than conventional roads as claimed by the company. He said the technology is also being used in extreme cold weather conditions and would be feasible for the Valley roads once it pass the trial.
