KARACHI: In 2007 former President Pervez Musharraf had made it clear to the US that Pakistan would consider its options if New Delhi did not stop spreading insurgency in Balochistan, WikiLeaks revealed.
In a cable dated September 21, 2007 the then US ambassador Anne Patterson wrote about details of a meeting between Musharraf, Deputy Secretary John Negroponte and US Assistant Secretary for South Asia Richard Boucher.
According to the cable the former president complained about India and Afghanistan fuelling the insurgency in Balochistan by supplying weapons to Baloch militants.
Musharraf said there was sufficient evidence of this and that Afghan President Hamid Karzai had asked him for some time to solve the problem.
Musharraf had made it clear that if India did not stop spreading the insurgency in Balochistan then Islamabad would consider options for stopping New Delhi’s incursions.
