Jammu: Raising finger at Congress and National Conference leadership, the Bhartiya Janata Party today said resolution of Afzal Guru seeking clemency would be strongly opposed in the week-long special session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, beginning from September 26 at Srinagar.
“The Assembly has rejected the Parliamentary Resolution of 1994 on Jammu and Kashmir submitted by the BJP but at the same time resolution on clemency to Afzal Guru has been accepted, which clears the intentions of the ruling leadership in the state,” BJP MLA Ashok Khajuria, flanked by Chief Spokesperson and National Executive Committee member Dr Jitender Singh, told reporters at a press conference here this morning.
Mr Khajuria said accepting resolution on mercy to Afzal Guru by the Assembly shows the intentions of leaders ruling the state government.
“We will not allow the House to debate on this resolution as it is not in the interest of the nation,” the BJP leader said and added that the Congress-NC coalition government was trying to suppress the nationalist voice in the state.
He further alleged that the saffron party would also ‘expose’ the Congress leadership supporting the resolution on Afzal Guru, the main culprit in the Parliament attack.
