MP Ladakh discuss Developmental Issues of Drass with DG BRO in Delhi

Delhi, January 02: Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Shri Mohd Hanifa Jan, chaired a meeting with the Director General, Border Roads Organisation (DG BRO), Lieutenant General Harpal Singh today at BRO Headquarter in Delhi to discuss key developmental issues concerning Drass region of Kargil.

During the meeting, several important infrastructure and livelihood-related matters were taken up, including construction of the Drass–Gurez Road to improve strategic and civilian connectivity and construction of bypass roads at Thasgam village and from Shimsa to Kharboo to ease traffic and enhance safety.

The meeting also discussed enhancement of wages for labourers engaged in BRO works and increased engagement of local labour in ongoing and upcoming projects. The MP also discussed scope for construction of a tunnel from Dandal to Khumbathang to ensure all-weather connectivity.

Concerns of Ladakh-based contractors, particularly regarding qualification and eligibility criteria in BRO works were also discussed.

The DG BRO, Lieutenant General Harpal Singh, assured that the issues raised would be given due consideration and expressed his commitment to extending full support for the overall development of the Drass region.

The meeting was termed constructive and forward-looking, with a shared emphasis on infrastructure development, employment generation, and regional growth.
