Mirwaiz returns home from Brussels

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Monday arrived here after attending the 5th Global Discourse on Kashmir in Brussels.
The two day international conference was organized by European Parliament and during his special address Mirwaiz raised the issue of human rights violations, the arrests and detention of youth and political activists several other issues including the negative impact of armed forces on the environment in Jammu and Kashmir and losses suffered by the people of the state due to water treaties between India and Pakistan, a spokesman said.
“Mirwaiz presented the point of view of Kashmiris and also met several important figures during his trip, urging them to use their influence for an early resolution of Kashmir issue,” the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar has expressed his sorrow over the death of veteran Kashmiri journalist Pandit O N Kaul and expressed his condolences with the deceased’s family.
“Pandit O N Kaul was a sincere and veteran journalist and shared a close bond with his homeland and Kashmiri Muslims. His death has created a void which cannot be fulfilled,” Mirwaiz said.
