Srinagar: Castigating the authorities for debarring its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from offering congregational Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid today, Hurriyat Conference (M) has termed the restrictions as “an act of frustration, taken by a government scared of Mirwaiz’s unambiguous and genuine representation of the suppressed Kashmiri people.â€
In a statement issued here, a Hurriyat Conference (M) spokesman said leading Islamic scholars and clerics while addressing Friday gatherings across the Valley today flayed the restrictions on Mirwaiz.
The chairman of Hurriyat Conference was placed under house at Nigeen residence.
The spokesman said such tactics were aimed at keeping Mirwaiz and other pro-freedom leaders away from the masses.
