Srinagar: APHC Chairman  has expressed his concern and displeasure over announcing of life sentences to Kashmiris incarcerated by the Indian authorities in various jails located across India.
Mirwaiz said number of innocent Kashmiris have spent more than half of their lives behind the prison. He said, thus, the ruling of Indian courts regarding the Kashmiri prisoners was contrary to the justice and democratic principles. He stressed that such actions have only one motive- to break the will of Kashmiris from pursuing the path of freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir.
APHC Chairman said that the policy of oppression and use of force was being carried out to weaken the courage of people so as to prevent them from carrying carry out the fight for liberation of Kashmir. So far, he said despite the use of wanton force and committing gross human rights violation, the state has been unsuccessful to counter the political aspirations and emotions of Kashmiris for which they have rendered countless sacrifices and have suffered so much.
Mirwaiz has appealed the international community to take stock of the worsening human rights situation and play their responsible role to address the issues in Kashmir. While expressing solidarity and sympathy with the Kashmiris prisoners, he has assured the relatives and families of prisoners that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir was with them and they should not feel they are alone.
APHC Chairman has said that the Hurriyat would continue to carry forward the freedom struggle and would not always raise their voice against the despotic policies of authorities.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz has once again appealed people to maintain unity and do not allow the evil designs of enemies to succeed.
