Srinagar: Expressing apprehensions that the visit of the Hurriyat Conference may be used as a tool for gaining political mileage in Pakistan, the Hurriyat Conference (G) today said the visit would not be fruitful in the present scenario.

“The nation has offered unprecedented sacrifices and Hurriyat conference with responsibility of safeguarding these sacrifices understands that it should never use its institution in the election politics of Pakistan or play any role in it”, said the Hurriyat (G) spokesperson in a statement issued here today.
In a meeting of the executive body of Hurriyat (G) under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, it was observed that among the three parties to the K issues, India was the only party which was creating hurdles in solution of the issue as per people’s aspiration.
“On the other hand Pakistan has recognised the issue and has always impressed the India and the word bodies to resolve the Kashmir as per aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Since 1947 Pakistan has extended its political and moral support to people of Kashmir and their struggle”, read the statement issued by Hurriyat (G).
“It was observed that leadership must keep it in mind that the proposed visit to Pakistan should not be a mere photo opportunity”, the statement added.
Hurriyat said that it is not proper to make hurried decisions at this juncture. “The elections for Pakistan national assembly are being conducted in near future and it is evident that the present administration in Pakistan is not in a position to take any decision with regards to Kashmir. They are busy in election campaign and the participants need some sort of election stunts”, the statement said.
The Hurriyat said that some quarters were trying to change the status of Kashmir issue and allocating hype to the commerce and trade issues.
“They are trying to deviate and undermine the aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir by changing the priorities while as some quarters are bent upon to motivate the people that in present scenario, the trade is the priority and the core issue with regards to the political future of Kashmir comes next”.
“It was declared that the economic status of Kashmiri people is much better than India and Pakistan, and in Kashmir there is no famine like situation and an idea is floated that the trade and business are more important than the sacred cause for which enormous sacrifices have been offered”.
They Hurriyat said that it was determined about the fact that business and trade politics was not more important and superior than the sacrifices laid for the noble cause. “Change of priorities is deception and has no moral ground”.
“The members observed that they have concluded that the upcoming visit to Pakistan is the media stunt, they want to accomplish their ambitions and provide a substitute for the aspirations of people of Kashmir with so called trade and economic activities”, the conglomerate statement said.
“All the members in one voice reaffirmed that Hurriyat is not against the dialogue process but the precondition is that India should recognise and admit that Kashmir a dispute. It should declare and formulate a timetable for complete demilitarization and revoke all draconian laws, release all detenues and initiate enquiries against its forces involved in heinous crime in Jammu and Kashmir”, it added.
