Mir asks political parties to work for J&K’s development

50% subsidy on hybrid seeds for Reasi district

REASI, Jammu: Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today called upon all the mainstream political workers to work for the development of the state above the party politics.
This he said while inaugurating one day Machinery cum awareness Mela at Reasi here this morning.
MLA, Reasi Mr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Sarpanchs of different villages also spoke on the occasion.
The Minister said that time has gone when people were being divided on the basis of religion, caste, region and added that the people of the state are more wise than the political leaders. He said that people of every corner of J&K want all round development in every sector and it is our duty that we collectively strive for developmental politics.
Mr. Mir said that holding of panchayat elections in the state last year has now started bearing fruits on the ground and stressed for strengthening the basic pillar of the democracy. He said these basic democratic institutions would help the state to make J&K developed state of the country.
Referring the holding of Agriculture Machinery Mela cum awareness camp, the Minister said that introduction of latest Agri- techniques has revolutionized the agriculture sector across the globe and stressed upon the farmers of J&K to take benefit of mechanization programme of the department for which the incentives are being provided to them. He said it would help the farming community in strengthening their Socio-economic status, besides helping them to make agriculture as a profiting activity. He said the department has launched a massive machinery awareness programme in every nook and corner of the rural areas to benefit farmers at the door step.
The Minister asked the Chief Agriculture officers to make their demand of machinery component and other farmer friendly needs in advance so that the subsidy component is provided at the earliest for farmers under various schemes launched by the government. He said that sufficient funds are available for these schemes and asked the farmers to come forward to take its benefits.
For the benefit of farmers and increase of crop production, Mr. Mir today announced that hybrid seeds are being provided to the farmers of District Reasi on 50% subsidy. For streamlining the fertilizer supply in the district, he announced that Seed cum fertilizers license would be provided to the educated youth at Panchayat level in the district. He also said Vermi Composite Units are also being provided to the farmers on priority under RKVY scheme.
During the function the Minister distributed subsidy cheques among the farmers on agricultural machinery items.
Director Agriculture Jammu Mr. Ajay Khajuria, Deputy Commissioner Reasi and senior agriculture officers were present on the occasion. (KMW News)
