Srinagar: The Border Security Force (BSF) and Army Tuesday said that militants were ‘desperately’ waiting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan Administered Kashmir. “Militants are desperate to infiltrate in large numbers into Kashmir Valley and create disturbance, but the armed forces and police are keeping a strict vigil on the border,” Inspector General BSF, Baljit Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a passing out function at Humhama today. He said the forces had already foiled infiltration attempts last month.Separately, a senior army officer in Jammu said that around 450 militants were “staged in training camps and launching pads across the Line of Control (LoC)” and were waiting to infiltrate into this part of the Kashmir.“As per intelligence reports, 450 odd militants are lodged in camps and launching pads, and staged for infiltration,” General Officer Commanding (GOC), 25 Infantry Division, Maj Gen Om Prakash told reporters at the sidelights of the Amam Jyoti rally at Nagrota in Jammu. The GOC claimed that infiltration attempts will increase with the melting of snow as per analysis of past militant methods and activities along the LoC. “We are aware of their designs. We are prepared for it,” he said.Regarding the militants operating in mountainous tracks of the State, the officer said that nearly 200 militants are operating inside the south of Pir Panchal region. “We are regularly getting inputs of their movement. The backbone of the militancy in south of Pir Panchal has been broken with the recent killing of the militants in the range,” he said.
