Srinagar, Jun 6: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that militants are trying to sabotage the ‘Ramzan ceasefire’, announced by the Centre, by continuing their violent activities.
However, she expressed the hope that militants would realise the futility of their action soon.
There was a surge in the militant activities, particularly grenade attack, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast and attack on security force camps since the Centre announced not to launch operation against militants during the month of holy Ramzan.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Ms Mufti said, ”Even as we see the ceasefire bringing great relief to the people of J&K, militants seem to be continuing their violent activities & desperately trying to sabotage the process. I only hope that they realise the futility of their actions soon.” The Centre has already announced that it is ready to hold talks with Hurriyat Conference (HC) leaders.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is arriving on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to review the Ramzan ‘ceasefire’ and other security and development-related matters.
