Srinagar: Militants struck again in Srinagar city merely after a weak killing a Boarder Security Personnel injuring two others. According to reports, unidentified gunmen fired upon the two vehicles of BSF at around 8 AM near Ahamdia Hospital near Gulshan Nagar Bypass killing one personnel.
Public Relations Officer, BSF told that two vehicles of BSF from Store Collection were coming from Baramullah to Pantachowk when near Gulshan Nagar Bypass some militants fired upon the vehicles and injuring three personnel. Injured BSF personnel from 8th Batallion were immediately shifted to Army Hospital where the soldier Kishan Kalita from Assam succumbed to his injuries.
The two injured personnel identified as Vijay Sakia and Heim Singh are said to be out of danger. “Possibly it was a militant attack. We feel that militancy still persists in Srinagar City and the recent two incidents are enough to prove it,†PRO, BSF said.
Pertinently, this is the second militant attack in a month in the state’s summer capital. On March 13, a suicide squad attacked Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers in Bemina area of the city. Five CRPF troopers and two attacking fidayeen were killed in the incident, while nine others, including three civilians, were killed.The March 13 attack was the first in Srinagar in three years.
