Family of Liyaqat negates the claims of DPSC

Srinagar: Negating the tall claims of Delhi Police Special Cell (DPSC), the family of Kupwara youth arrested by DPSC from Gorukhpur, Friday said that Liyaqat Ali Shah was coming to Kashmir via Nepal to surrender before the Police. 

“My brother, Liyaqat was returning to Kashmir after 18 years and it is totally exaggeration on part of Delhi Police to claim that they have arrested a dreaded Hizb militant when my brother never participated in any militant activity in Kashmir. He was coming here to surrender before the police and we were all jubiliant that he will return after 18 years,” the brother of arrested militant, Syed Karamat Shah told.
He said on the one hand the government is propagating ‘Rehabilitation Policy’ and when anyone comes to Kashmir with the sole purpose of living a peaceful life in Valley; he is being arrested on way and labeled as dreaded militant.
“We are surprised the way DPSC has labeled my brother as dreaded Hizb militant. His purpose was not to strike at Delhi but the fact is that he was coming with his Pakistani wife to Kashmir and we all were waiting for him. How come Delhi police claims that it averted a possible terror strike in the national capital when my brother had already informed us via phone that he is on way to Kashmir,” Karamat said adding that Liyaqat was not alone but his wife and two children were with him and they don’t know now about their whereabouts.
The mother of arrested Dardpora, Kupwara youth, Bibi Begum while talking to that his son ex-filtrated during the year 1994 when so much reign of terror was let loose by the security forces in Kupwara. “I haven’t seen him from last 18 years as he never returned back to Valley. He was married and having two children. He re-married in Pakistan as well and from the second wife he also has two children and we have even heard that he has third wife as well,” she said adding that few days back, Liyaqat informed us about his arrival and we were shocked when her wife accompanying her called us and informed us about his arrest.
Family claimed that Liyaqat had no intention to stay in Delhi and he was simply coming to Kashmir to submit before the police. “It is absurd on part of Delhi police to mislead people of India that they have foiled a terror attack in Delhi when my friend had no purpose to stay in Delhi,” former militant Mohammad Akbar told local news agency adding that Liyaqat was returning to home after 18 years.
He said Liyaqat and he jointly went to Pakistan administrated Kashmir for arms training. “We had joined militant outfit Al-Baraq that time. I returned back and surrendered but Liyaqat didn’t return. Liyaqat was told by family about the rehabilitation policy and he wished to come to home and live peacefully but DPSC took him a dreaded militant while the fact is that he never took part in any militant activity in Kashmir,” Akbar said.
Meanwhile, Special Commissioner of DPSC S.Srivastava while talking to local News Agency said that Liyaqat is a terrorist and they have arrested only him and don’t know anything about his wife. “Which family member will say that their near and dear one is wrong or involved in terrorism. For us Liyaqat is a terrorist and we have arrested only one person and don’t know anything about his wife,” Srivastava said.
