Militant killed in Poonch gunbattle

Jammu: A militant was today killed in a gunbattle at Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

‘’A joint team of Rashtriya Rifle troops along with district police on specific inputs regarding movement of militants launched search operation in Chak Banola area of Poonch district,’’ official spokesman here, said.

He said the militants opened fire at the patrol party which was retaliated and the gunbattle started.

‘’In exchange of fire, one of the militants was while the operation was on,’’ he added.

There are apprehensions that the killed militant was a foreign mercenary but his identity had not yet been ascertained as the encounter was in progress, he said. (KMW News)
