Committee reviews power scenario in state
SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 30 – The meeting of the committee on Public Accounts pertaining to Power Development Department was held under the chairmanship of MLA, Main Altaf Ahmed here today.
Legislatures, Mr. M. Y. Targami, Mr. Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Mr. .Satpal Sharma, Syed Farooq Ahmed Andrabi, Mr. Shah Mohammad Tantry and Mr.Zaffar Iqbal Manhas were present in the meeting
The committee examined and held deliberations on the Audit Paragraphs contained in the CAG’s Audit Report of Power Development Department .
The meeting was informed that concerted efforts are being made to streamline the Power supply system across the state and various centrally sponsored and State Sector schemes are being implemented to achieve tangible results on ground.
It was informed in the meeting that under Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (RAPDRP) schemes worth Rs.1665 crore are being implemented in about 30 towns of the state for augmenting High Voltage distribution System.
The meeting while reviewing the physical achievements under RAPDRP was informed that as many as 21Receiving stations have been created in the State while as 56 such Receiving Stations have been augmented, 88 KM long 33 KV new line have been laid while as 294 Km long such line have been improved so far.
The committee also discussed the implementation of two new schemes namely Integrated Power development scheme and Din Dayal Upadhaya Ghram Joyti Yojana. These schemes are being implemented for the improvement of power supply in Urban and Rural areas of the State.
The chair was informed that during the current year 48077 inspections were conducted by enforcement team of PDD across the State and fine of Rs.8.29 crore have been recovered from the defaulters and 23190 electric connections have been regularized.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the committee stressed the need to have buffer stock of transformers especially in the remote areas to ensure timely replacement of damaged transformers during winter season He also directed to make enforcement wings more active and ensure random checking to curb the menace of illegal power connections.
Commissioner Secretary PDD, Dheerej Gupta, Development Commissioner Power, Iyaz Gul, Chief Engineers of various wings of PDD and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
