Mehbooba Asks Rajnath to Release Shahidul Islam

Srinagar, Jan 19 (KMW): Former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti has sought the release of the incarcerated Hurriyat (M) leader Shahidul Islam. In a tweet to Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Mehbooba sought Shahid’s release order on “humanitarian grounds.”

Shahid, along with some other resistance leaders, were taken into custody by the central investigation agency NIA last year and is serving a sentence in Tihar Jail. Shahid’s wife suffered a heart attack last week and had to be hospitalised.
