Over the years Pro Freedom polity has seemed to stray away from its own set paradigms, and the doing away with the traditional strikes is one big policy shift. 13th July Martyrs Day strike not to be observed this year what pro-freedom camp calls due to upcoming Eid also seems a paradigm shift in the overall vision and policy mechanism of pro-freedom struggle.
Some years back the usual observance of strike on the eve of opening of Darbar move offices in Srinagar was also done away with as now from many years now no strike is being observed on this occasion. Many such occasions when pro-freedom leadership would in the past mark with observance of strikes are now witnessing no strike calls .Political pundits view it as failure of pro-freedom camp in evolving its strategy of hartals.
We have also seen since past sometime seen that when some wrong development in form of human rights abuse takes place in Kashmir the strike call is limited to only that area from where the victim hails and other areas are asked to function normally by the pro-freedom polity. Many have openly criticized this District vise hartal calls policy.
The million dollar question is what has suddenly lead to change of heart with reference to this Hartal strategy of Pro-freedom camp .Is this the need of time that pro-freedom leaders have felt to revisit their Hartal strategy or there are some other dimensions behind the curtain to this reality. Only time will tell whether this revisiting of hartal strategy proves fruitful or backfires
