Srinagar, May 12 : An unidentified man was crushed to death by a fast moving train in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, official sources said on Monday.
However, railway officials allege that it was case of suicide.
Meanwhile, protests erupted at Wangund village in Qazigund after news of this incident spread. Terming it sheer negligence of the railway authorities, the protestors said the accident could have been averted had the railway police and the driver of the train been more cautious.
The protesters also halted the train heading towards Banihal.
However, contradicting the protestors’ allegation, railway officials said, “The on duty policemen tried to stop him from jumping before the train”.
