Srinagar: At least three minors, Yasir Ganai, Roman Adil and Mohammad lateef Dar, who have relations in the Maisuma areas have been arrested while crossing the Gawakdal bridge.

Situation in the area remains volatile. The minors have been arrested on charges of stone pelting.
Pertinent to mention that the SHO Maisuma has dishonored court orders to furnish report to the court. The Jammu & Kashmir Police continued their detention knowing that June 11 is the death anniversary of Tufail matto and this negligence can lead to a major uprising like 2010. The arrest of minors on false charges of stone pelting after the debate over the revocation of AFSPA gained momentum over the last year or so.
Surprisingly, a senior police officer recently claimed that no minors are being arrested and the ones involved are in custody on other unlawful charges, not stone-pelting.
“Out of 51 cases only 38 were from Kashmir valley. Majority of the detainees were involved in unlawful activities and have been released on bail except for few cases involving murder. No minor from Kashmir is detained in any jail. If there are some, they must be in juvenile homes,” Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Abdul Ghani Mir had told a local English Daily.
