Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) hosts Iftar party in Kargil

Kargil, March 20: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and First Lady, Smt Neelam Mishra today hosted an Iftar Party in Kargil for religious heads, political leaders and Administrative Officials.

The party was attended by Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon; Executive Councillor, Agha Syed Mujtaba; Executive Councillor, Kacho Mohd Feroz; Executive Councillor, Er. Punchok Tashi; heads of religious institutions; Councillors of LAHDC; Directors, Joint Directors and District Officers.

Greeting everyone on the occasion of holy month of Ramazan, the HLG stated that the Prophet Mohammad (SAW) ordained the people with five noble duties, one among which is fasting in the month of Ramazan.

The HLG said that the Prophet advised people to do good to the mankind and look after their neighbours and ensure that they have good food for Iftar. 

Advising for doing good deeds, the LG quoted an American philosopher who stated, “I shall pass through this way but once, anything good that I can do, any service that I can render to my fellow human beings, this way again let me do it now. Let me not differ or postpone it for I shall not fear.

The LG stated that the foundation of being good human being is goodness to mankind. He prayed for peace and prosperity of the nation.

The gathering ended with prayers by Executive Councillor, Agha Syed Mujtaba, who prayed for global peace and happiness. 

Post Iftar, the LG convened a meeting with representatives of LAHDC Kargil. The meeting was attended by Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, Executive Councillors, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Senior Superintendent of Kargil, and Councillors.

LAHDC representatives raised concerns over Capex Budget curtailment. LG assured of his efforts to secure a higher budget in the coming financial year.

The LAHDC representatives stated that they have made 97 percent expenditure allocated on their disposal adding that their budget should not be curtailed.

The LG assured to send the Chief Secretary, Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal on Kargil tour to discuss the matters related to budget with LAHDC representatives.

The LG directed the LAHDC representatives to cooperate in supplying functional water pipelines in Kargil. The LG further advised to finalize the recruitment rules as soon as possible to expedite the recruitment process for Gazetted Posts for Ladakhi youth.
