Various delegations call on Lt Governor Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Rtd) at Raj Niwas Kargil

Kargil, March 20: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) was called upon by various delegations today at Raj Niwas in Kargil on the first day of his two-day tour to Kargil district.

General Manager, NHIDCL, Kargil, Sh Arun Porge met with the LG and invited him for inauguration of a Bridge at Leh on March 22. The HLG assured to inform his presence.

President Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi religious head along with Ghulam Haider and Liyaqat Ali called on LG. The delegation appraised the LG about their plan for mass plantation of 1 lakh saplings in Kargil involving different departments, Indian Army and general public.

The LG asked to ensure plantation in areas with abundance of water and also ensure survival of the plant post plantation.

The LG also advised Sheikh Nazir to help tackle the stray dog menace in Ladakh. The LG further advised Sheikh Nazir to spread awareness in public for in time clearing the outstanding electricity dues to ensure functioning of the Department. Sheikh Nazir expressed gratitude to the LG for his support for the plantation project.

A delegation of cooks and sweepers of Education Department, Kargil headed by Archo Fiza, called on the LG and requested for enhancement of their honorarium which is Rs 50 per month. The LG directed the Secretary School Education, Bhanu Prabha (IAS) to form a committee to study the number of employees working on meagre salaries and submit the report by March end.

Chief Engineer, Project Vijayak, Brig Vivek Oberai also called on the LG Ladakh. He informed that the Zojila Pass will be through for traffic in the end of March. The LG directed CE Vijayak to construct lavatory for public convenience at every 10 km throughout the route. LG advised him to engage with Sulabh NGO for the progress of the project.

The CE also apprised the LG about the status of other projects including Foot Bridge to Lamdon School at Khaltse, Fotula Tunnel Project, Zojila Tunnel, four-laning of Nimmo-Leh road, Khaltse-Batalik road and Turtuk-Batalik road.

A delegation of Contractors Association also called on the LG and raised the issue of closure of stone crushers at Kurbathang due to pollution. The delegation requested to identify mining blocks near Kargil town area and its suburbs. The HLG directed Principal Secretary (School Edu/HUD/Industries and Commerce), Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS and other concerned officials to look into the matter and do justice. 

The owners of Chiktan Razi Khar met the HLG and stated that the concerned department has proposed for restoration of Chiktan Razi Khar without taking the concerned family on board. The LG assured to look into the matter.

A delegation of outsourced staff of NHM/Health Department Kargil called on the LG and requested to continue their service in the next financial year. The LG said that the department will work as per the rules ensuring justice for everyone.

Present in the meeting were Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS; SSP Kargil, Shree Ram R, IPS; Director, Tourism, Kunzes Angmo; CMO Kargil, Dr Liyaqat Ali Khan and District Forest Officer, Kargil, Mohd Ali.
