Srinagar: A Lashker-e-Toiba militant was killed while another managed to escape after encounter with joint team of police and army in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.Defense ministry spokesman based in Srinagar, J S Brar, said that based on specific information, 22 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a joint cordon-and-search operation at Reban Sopore along Rafiabad-Kupwara belt this afternoon. He said that as the joint team was approaching towards the target area, militants opened fire and in the ensuing gun-battle, one militant identified as LeT’s Chacha Talha was killed.He said that some arms and ammunition was also recovered from the possession of slain militant.Sources, meanwhile said that a militant managed to escape from the spot.  Meanwhile, police and Forces recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout Poonch district of Jammu during wee hours today.A police spokesman said that based on specific information regarding the presence of militants in Pillon Wali Arui area  , Police and 27  Rashtriya Rifles launched a joint search operation . The suspected area was cordoned off and during the search operation troops noticed a hideout of which was busted.  The spokesman claimed that an AK 47 rifle, an AK 56 Rifle, a Picka spear barrel, 07 AK Magazines, 305 AK rounds, 19 Pistol rounds, 258 Picka rounds, a bayonet with scabbard and two Pouches were recovered.
