Kashmir European Alliance urges UN General Assembly and international community to play their role in redressing the plight of helpless Kashmiris. The right to self-determination is a revered principle of international law. But even after more than 68 years, this fundamental right is being denied to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is not a territorial dispute. Kashmir is a humanitarian dispute and can be resolved through a democratic process by allowing the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their choice through an impartial vote.
There are continuous human rights violations by the Indian forces in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Human rights organizations like United Nations Council on Human Rights, Asia Watch, Amnesty International have continuously been raising voices about the way Kashmiris are being treated by Indian security forces. India need to respond to conflict resolution with positive intent. India must realize that Kashmir issue sits on top to all confidence building measures which may follow a linear approach to putting an end to arms race in sub-continent.
More than two third of population of sub-continent consists of low middle class or poor masses living low of poverty line. This under nourished and uneducated class is feeding the continues arm race between India and Pakistan through their blood streams. This under class do not have sufficient time to grasp the conflict out of their daily struggle in bringing bread to them and their family and kids. They have no power what so ever to make or break their political representatives. The flawed democracy of developing, uneducated and illiterate society actually fall short to give any political representation to these poor masses who make more than two third of total bulk of population in sub-continent. The price is being paid by the bottom class of the society in sub-continent. Selective and exploitive form of this democracy with a marginal economic under class and plenty of religious, ethnic, linguistic and social sub-classes is the political realism of then so-called largest democracy of India. The sovereignty of India must take care of providing food and clothing to their under classes who have no real idea of false and fake ideals of Indian leadership and military occupying Kashmir for past 68 years. The sovereignty of India must not conflict with the freedom, prestige and dignity of Kashmiri nation.
The falling moral of Indian occupying forces in Jammu Kashmir is speaking loud through individual suicides, self inflicted tragedies and fratricidal incidents among army and security personnel. An Indian soldier shot five of his colleagues to death at point-blank range before turning the gun on himself. Analysis is simple! Protraction of duties under relentless stress and all hinged on a fake cause might end up into such fratricidal incidents. Soldiers cooped up together in particularly hostile and dangerous zones, far away from families for long stretches of time are aware that they are occupiers and fighting a lost battle in Kashmir.
Kashmir European Alliance hails recent bilateral confidence building talks between India and Pakistan, but KEA believe that a pragmatic, lasting and a just solution of Kashmir issue is not possible without a trilateral engajement including Kashmiri representatives from different school of thoughts, and setteled in and out of their motherland. Kashmir European Alliance pays tributes to Kashmiri nation staying resolute in their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation. Kashmiris are well aware that there is no substitute for freedom, self respect and dignity. No economic package, no election drama, none of all mischievous moves and all the suppressive draconian laws of occupying forces can defeat the aspirations of freedom and right of self determination of Kashmiri people.
