Srinagar, Feb 4: Life in Hajin town of Bandipora district was paralyzed on Thursday after Indian troopers cordoned off Khosa Mohalla to neutralize the militants who according to them were hiding inside a house.
The troopers from 13 RR Mansbal, SOG Sumbal and Bandipora continued to target the house where militants were allegedly holed up. However despite the repeated fire shots on part of troopers, militants didn’t respond. The Indian troopers even destroyed the house of a local Sanaullah after they planted an IED to exterminate the militants.
Badamibagh based Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel NN Joshi told CNS that they have not recovered the body of any militant. “Operation is still going on. We have started the generators and the area has been fenced to foil escaping attempts of militants. So far we have not recovered any dead body,” he said adding that three militants are believed to be trapped inside the house.
Meanwhile a top Army officer from 13 RR Mansbal told CNS on condition of anonymity that one militant has been killed while two others are still trapped. “The operation is still going on. We are mulling to halt the operation till dawn,” he said adding that there has been no response on part of ‘hiding’ militants. “May be they are dead,” he said.
DIG North Kashmir Gareeb Das told reporters that two militants have been killed so far whose identity has not been identified yet.
