Jora lays foundation stone of Artificial Rock Climbing Wall at TRC

SRINAGAR: The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today stressed the need for promoting Kashmir as a comparative destination for tourists to give fillip to the economy of Jammu and Kashmir State.
The Minister said this while addressing Media persons after laying foundation stone of Artificial Rock Climbing Wall at TRC near Railway Station Nowgam. The Minister of State for Tourism and Home, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jora said that this wall, costing Rs. 95 lakhs will be ready by March 2012. He said the climbing wall is the first of its kind in country which will give boost to the adventure tourism. He said Omar led Government is putting all out efforts for development of tourism sector, however, he said, we should complement the Central Government for granting national aid of Rs. 285 crore.
Jora said time has come when we should diversify our activities to promote the new facets of tourism. He said Kashmir received the dividends of the summer peace this year by experiencing record tourist rush. He called for maintaining peace and tranquility to keep the sustainable tourist rush in the State.
Mr. Nasir Aslam said that the aim of developing infrastructure with modern techniques is to attract more and more tourists to visit Jammu and Kashmir.
Director Tourism, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation, Mr. Talat Parvez, officers of concerned departments and representatives of tourism associations were present on the occasion.
